The seed I use is Versele-Laga Continental Mix, this contains mixed millets,  Groats, Niger and Safflower.

To this mix I add Verse-Laga plain canary seed to give me a 50-50 ratio of continental mix and canary.

This mix is fed to the birds in the main flight in a large seed hopper.

Another large hopper contains the same mix but with about 25% Verse-Laga Tonic added.

I also feed soaked Groats and soaked Millet Sprays once a week.

The millet sprays used are Chinese and Red Anjou. The Groats and Millet Sprays are soaked in Vanodine over night then rinsed thoroughly and fed to the birds still wet.

One tip I was given some years ago was that millet sprays carry a degree of fungus which can spread disease through your birds quite quickly hence the reason for soaking in Vanodine.

The only what I would term extras I feed are Carrots and occasionally Sweetcorn and Spinach also Salt and Iodine Blocks.  I am a believer in Carrots and my birds receive these two or three times a week I have yet to see any left overs within the space of a couple of hours.

I am a firm believer in that if it isn’t broke don’t fix it. To that end I don’t really administer any preventative medicines although I do use a liquid vitamin supplement in the water once a week. The water also comes straight from the tap, if its good enough for me it is almost good enough for the birds.

The grit I use is Verse-Laga mineral grit and I also feed Murphy's minerals all year round.
